It’s not easy, living with OCD.

Not only does it feel like it’s stealing time from your life, it works its tendrils into so many other aspects. Our work can suffer, we question our own sanity and self, it affects our relationships. We wonder if those closest to us are getting tired of putting up with us.

And then it’s shame. Self blame. Embarrassment. Stigma, and loneliness.

But the hardest thing to shake, is that these compulsions and rituals that we feel compelled to carry out, give us relief. It makes us feel good. It soothes us.

The hardest thing to shake, is that seeking this relief makes a lot of sense.

But it’s not lasting.

It provides us only a brief respite, a crumb of reassurance. And we just continue to chase it.

It doesn’t have to be that way.

How can OCD therapy help me?

OCD therapy is about slowing down our rapid thoughts, allowing us to pinpoint fears and sitting with discomfort just long enough to understand it. Our aim is to help identify the obsessive and compulsive patterns that bombard your brain, learn how to live with uncertainty, and find other avenues or redirection.

We know how frustrating it can be, how crazy and irrational it feels to need something to be a certain way to feel well. We understand that obsessions can change over time.

OCD can be managed, and relief can be achieved.

Veronika Tkáčová is a registered clinical counsellor (RCC) with lived experiences of OCD. I know how often neurodivergence can make a person feel judged, misunderstood, and lonely.
