Teen ADHD Therapy

It’s not easy watching your kid struggle. What makes your teen different is of course beautiful, but that doesn’t make society understand them any better (or make them easier to live with!). As frustrating as it is to watch them struggle to maintain friendships or grapple with schoolwork, it is probably even more frustrating for your teen. We want to help your neurodivergent teen explore their sense of self and identity, while simultaneously working on accomplishing your family’s goals within a neurotypical world.

As therapists, we don’t provide an ADHD assessment, nor does your teen need an official diagnosis to access therapy.

Does ADHD run in your family? Your family might…

  • interrupt & talk over each other often
  • find focusing on academics & work difficult
  • often feel apathetic or have difficulty finding a reason to be motivated
  • struggle to finish household projects
  • find messes overwhelming, to have and to clean
  • often arrive late to events
  • have “that’s not what I said!” arguments
  • struggle with depression, anxiety, trauma, or authority
  • bond over what makes you all different from other people
  • have an intense relationship with a calendar, either follow a strict schedule or barely remember what you have planned next week
  • struggles with self-esteem and not feeling “good enough”

ADHD therapy involves the whole family

It hurts watching your kid make similar mistakes you made when you were young, or maybe your relationship to them has fallen into a rift you could have never expected. Some of us raise children knowing we are passing down heredity traits, other times we fall into parenthood with someone who we never got to watch take their first steps. Despite this special connection, your relationship is nuanced and advice coming from you might not stick the way it does coming from a therapist.

Nav Khabra, our therapist working with teens, guides adolescents through the crucial age of identity formation, helping them discover their sense of self and place in the world. As someone who is neurodivergent, Nav brings a unique, empathetic perspective to his work, empowering neurodivergent teens through genuine, conversational therapy. ADHD therapy feels more like a conversation than a clinical experience, creating a safe and supportive space for your teen to thrive.

Our goal is to help your child work smarter (not harder!) by finding strategies that align with their strengths and needs. ADHD therapy helps teens develop strategies to live in a world where the structure and rules may not make a lot of sense to them at first glance. It is a mental health support that pairs well with medication for some individuals, and works better on its own for others.

We can help develop harmony and a mutual understanding in families, empowering your teen to lean into and take pride in their strengths, and help manage those difficult emotions that already are so amplified in adolescents. This is a vital time for finding their sense of purpose and worth.
